Why invest in cattle?  That's a good question, especially considering the current economy in which we all find ourselves.  As much as I love these wonderful little critters, there is one solid fact in their favor: they are food for those of us omnivores.  So instead of clearing the shelves at the grocery store and stocking cases upon cases of cans and dried foods with expiration dates...why not stock up on cattle?  Pound for pound they cost far less, they'll reproduce (unlike cans), they're far more fun to store (do you wanna pet a can??), and I'll bet their expiration date is much farther into the future.  Pair them up with a tidy little backyard garden (which they'll be delighted to fertilize for you), and you're good to go no matter what.  How's that for self sufficiency?
